HESAA’s School Counselor Workshops provide critical financial aid training to New Jersey school counselors through FREE in-person and virtual sessions.

Note – These sessions are for school counselors and financial aid professionals only. Financial aid professionals with questions about this upcoming training should email Outreach@hesaa.org. Agenda for All In-Person Sessions:

  • 9:00am – 10:45am:  General session – Revised StudentAid.gov accounts, application processes, federal and State financial aid updates, college awarding and determining eligibility, and more.
  • 10:45am – 11:00am:  Break
  • 11:00am – 12:00pm:  FAFSA Hot topics case study on difficult aid situations

Session Descriptions:

General Session: 2027-28 Federal & State Financial aid updates on Federal and State aid, data sharing agreements, college planning tools, and more.

FAFSA Hot Topics: This breakout session will be led by a seasoned financial aid administrator from one of our New Jersey colleges or universities. The discussion will address some of the most common topics that may come up as families complete the FAFSA. This informative session will enable school counselors to better guide families through specific FAFSA questions or concerns.

Case Study Analysis (in-person only): This session will cover the most common scenarios you may encounter when assisting students and parents. You will also have the opportunity to share scenarios you may already have encountered at your school.
