How do I correct this problem? For Xpress Fixed Rate Loans and Graduate/Professional Loans (no school information is requested for Consolidation Loans): If the screen does not come up to select your school, or if you get an error when you try to click on the link to select your school, the most likely reason is that there is pop-up blocking software on your computer that is preventing the school window from displaying. Please turn pop-up blocking software off (allow pop-ups from www.hesaa.org) in order to resolve this issue. You will also need to have pop-up blocking software turned off in order to print your completed application and promissory note. What should I enter for the Academic Period of the loan? Most students apply for a loan that spans the fall and spring semesters, e.g., September 1st through May 25th. However, you may apply for just the fall semester, or for the spring semester and summer semester, etc. The total time period of the loan should not be more than one year. If you are unsure, please contact the Financial Aid Office at your college for advice about your particular situation. Do not enter a time span that covers all 4 years of college. Mailing all of the documentation in one envelope will help us to process your loan application most efficiently. How much can I borrow? The cost of attendance (which is determined by the school) includes tuition, fees, room and board, books, and other education-related expenses.
