What to expect during the NJCLASS application process
FAFSA required - the student must file a FAFSA so that all other types of financial aid can be considered before applying for this loan
STAFFORD - consider borrowing this federal student loan which may have more attractive loan terms, deferment options, and loan forgiveness opportunities.
Ready to apply?
REVIEW the NJCLASS loan Terms and Conditions.
GATHER the information necessary (driver's license number, student's SSN, 2 personal references, employment/income information).
APPLY online for an instant credit decision.
Consider a cosigner if you do not meet the income or credit requirements.
PRINT and SIGN your application and Promissory Note, in blue ink preferably.
MAIL the signed application and Promissory Note to:

HESAA receives and reviews your application documents. If anything is missing, we'll send a letter requesting additional information.
SCHOOL CERTIFICATION is required - The school must review your eligibility to receive this loan as part of your financial aid package. They will certify the amount you can borrow, and the date(s) for funds to be released.
ACCEPT - this is NEW for all nonTitle IV education loans! Once we’ve received all of your signed documents, and the school has certified your loan, you will receive a NJCLASS Loan Offer in the mail. This Offer Disclosure will provide information specific to your loan. You will have 30 days to accept your loan offer. Here’s the important part: YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE A LOAN UNLESS YOU ACCEPT THE OFFER! Don’t worry, the Offer Disclosure will instruct you on how to accept your loan.
PREDISBURSEMENT DISCLOSURE will be sent to the borrower (s) and cosigner(s) prior to the funds being sent to the school.
DISBURSEMENT Loan funds are sent to either the school or parent borrower (for schools not using EFT funds for delivery).
CANCELLATION? Funds returned to NJCLASS within 60 days of disbursement will have the corresponding accrued interest and loan fee credited also.
